Re: [ihc] GVW's Seemingly no rhyme or reason
Was that the year Ford created the F-150 by re-rating
the F-100? If the vehicle was above a certain GVW it
didn't get smogged, or the smogging rules were
different. Chevy and Dodge did the same thing. I'm
sure that IH did the same thing. It bought them a
year or 18 months on the smogging for just some
paperwork changes to the vehicles.
Remember back in the 70s, smog rules were a rapidly
moving target and there were no onboard computers with
digital port injection to solve the problem. Everyone
knew what was needed but it was another 10 years
before anyone could build it for retail sale.
