Alfa valve shims are available up to 2, possibly 2.5mm. The trick
is finding somebody who will sell you some. Do the standard 
calculation with the shims you have, and order what you need, plus 
a few extras on either end. Now you know why reground cams are a
PITA.  Don't resort to shim kludges.  The right parts exist.
