Re: [ihc] Reverse Polarity (coil "Q")

 but the spark color is
weak blue (tested off a good Autolite plug). If the coil is hooked up
properly, what other sources of confusion could there be? How do I fit my
thick skull between the inner fender and the engine to view the spark during
the pencil test?
Without any intention of talking down to you, Thomas, you need to check these things.

Are you getting full voltage to the coil or the ballast resistor?

Are you maybe dropping the voltage twice, with an internal resistor and an external one?

How about the contact in the top of the distributor cap? Very common problem.

How about the contact in the tip of the coil and the ends of the coil high tension wire?

How about the coil wire even if it's only a couple of years old?

Did you try the plug on only one plug wire? Try it on several.

I'll probably think of more as the day wears on.

I treasure my IH manual, but I don't use it often enough.
