Dave, thanks for the reply.
Now that i've looked at it a little closer, I think that I could probably 
shorten the stock frame mounts to provide enough clearance width for the v8, 
and modify the pickup center motor mounts to work.  Only thing that might 
get me there is the center dump manifolds.  Headers might solve that.  Could 
still fab a traditional scout II front motor mount as well like you say.  
Tranny crossmember shouldn't be too bad to shift/refab.  Changing to auto, 
and will have the driveshafts done (larger dia tubes).  Picked up a better 
radiator as well.
If anyone has done it and has a simpler plan, i'm all ears.
