[ihc] Gear oil for Trans and Transfer URGENT

Binders,
      I'm in the midst of a Trans/Transfer swap in my scout and need to be
done by mid-day Saturday when my garage space runs out!
I need to know what lube to fill so that I don't damage my synchros and
such.  I've heard about non-hypoid, and GL-thisorthat and I want the
straight skinny.

Some say 50wt engine oil is same as 90wt gear oil, but without some extra
stuff?  mineral oil?  wd40, 3-in-1?
What the heck should go in there!?  I hear that the 80W90 is the bad stuff
because of the additives?
