Richard,
I think pretty much any four wheel drive will do fine for your purposes. I
would make your decision on how much people and gear you plan to carry. The
Travelalls do seem to ride better then the Scouts.
If you plan on someday running narrow trails like the Rubicon you'll want a
Scout or Traveler. The Travelalls are too big for trails of this type.
