The saga continues

IHers,
  Well, it did it again, on Xmas night.  I was running the '80 up to VT with sleds in tow.  Everything was running great, for the first hour, 55 mph max. I got on the highway, and got up to speed, 75mph at 2800rpm.  It ran great for about 15 miles, then I started to smell something. gauges read ok, so I kept truckin'.  All of a sudden it started back firing and loosing power.  I got off a the next exit, exit 1 in VT.:(  Pulled into a gas station to check things out.  Everything seemed ok, no loose wires, no fuilds spewwing out from anywhere.  It sounded like it was only running on 7 cyls.  Also, it was heating up a little, middle of the gauge (usually runs around a third).  So, I got going again, heading home, trade the Scout for the Yota and head back up for VT.  I barely made it back to the first exit in MA, pulled into another gas station, parked it and that was it.  Called AAA (gold edition, 100 mile tow), and had the Scout towed home.  Left the sleds/trailer at the station, and grabbed the Yota to complete the trip.
  Now I'm home again, it started up for me, but still runs poorly (7 clys?).  Aparently, it doesn't like high speeds.  I'm thinking lifters are junk, can't hold pressure at high speed, they collapse and dont open the valves enough for it to run good.  People have been suggesting electrical....the distributor is the last thing to change.
  What's the vendor (Summit, Jegs) and part number for the Mallory (or is it someone else) distributor for IH? 

  Suggestions, please!?!?!?
I think it may be time for a rebuild.

PS Snowmobiling was rough, not enough snow. Only got 60 miles on.:(  Many excuses to drink too much, not a good thing.
