The RPO five speed in the pickups was an IH-built transmission!.  The
design probably originated in the  '40's, although it was later updated
to a synchronized design.  The general model designation was the IH F-51C
and was installed as the T-34, 35, and 36.  The T-34 was an overdrive
design, while the other two were direct in fifth, with the T-35 having a
wider gear ratio span than the T-36.  The ratios were:	T-34--6.21,
3.43, 1.81, 1.00, and .823, 	T-35--7.17, 3.96, 2.36, 1.41, and
1.00, 	T-36--6.21, 3.43, 2.05, 1.225, and 1.00The codes were
changed to T434, 435, and 436 around 1970 and then the transmissions were
replaced with the T-494 (with OD), 495, and 496 designs (still IH built
with the same gear ratios) which were available in the 200 and 500 (more
T-496's than OD's it appears) through the end of Light Line Production.
In addition, a New Process 5 speed was used on at least one fleet order
and there are rumors of Clark 5 speeds, although no one has specificially
identified a truck built with one in it.

Swapping should not be overly difficult.  I would suspect the transfer
case will need to be moved back because of the length of the 5 speed. 
Installing the clutch linkage will probably be the difficult part.  Over
the decades, IH seemed to swing from hydraulic to mechanical linkage and
back again.  In the early '60's, hydraulic was used, but by 1970 and
later, most everything switched back to mechanical and that is what you
will find for yours.  It was not a case that both were available at the
same time.
