That last one, the stopping for an instant might be actually be the 
ignition cutting out.  Hate to say this but the Prestolite does that on 
occasion.  You can tell if it a Prestolite by looking at the terminals on 
the distributor caps.  If they look like the terminals on a spark plug it 
is a prestolite.  If they are holes into which you stick the wires, it's not.

If the dieing gets worse, you may want to swap it out.  Just keep an eye 
on it for now.

If you have cracked belts, replacing them would be a good project.  
Irritating but not too hard.  find out where the water is coming from.  
If is the radiator or hoses, you can fix it depending on where you 
drive.  If you go out in the boonies, probably ought to get on that.

Leaking oil?  Just keep pouring more in.  If it is the high pressure hose 
on the powere steering, replace it, might blow out and you probably don't 
want to drive a Scout w/o power steering.
