You can determine the year a Scout 80 was built by checking the serial
number. The last digit indicates year. (eg. -4 would indicate 1964). The
buyers' original Bill of Sale determined model year since IHC trucks were
not manufactured on a yearly model basis. 1964 was the last year that they
came with a fold-down windshield. From 1961 to 1964 the only engine offered
was the 4-152 "Comanche". In 1965 (production year) the Scout became the
800.

Given that determination, my 1965 (titled) Scout 80 (has fold down
windsheild, turn down handles, no latch on tail gate, etc) was
really built in 1963. (serial number FC119083A). Does this mean that
my Scout sat around on a sales lot for up to 2 years before it was
sold???
