Its been really cold up here in the north east lately.
I started up my car today and it started fine. However
the alternator or battery charge light was dimly lit?
I rev the engine a little, and light fades a bit but
is still dim. Drive the car for about 5 miles total,
when warmed up the light was off. I'm thinking car sat
around for a few dayz, battery may have drained a bit?
But with the car started and running it should be
getting more than enough voltage right? Sounds like
maybe new alternator time? Dad drove the car later
today for about 15 blocks and car refuse to restart,
he notice battery seemed dead. Batter is brand new
less than one year. What causes alternators to fail?
bad brushes? or just age? Any insight much
appreciated, what to check for ? I will be needing to
drive the car this weekend from NYC to Vermont.
Please avise.
