<E28>Hard Shifting

Digesters:
About a week after my first driving school (It's as great as everyone says) 
my '86 535i began shifting hard into 2nd, often just going half into gear 
and grinding (I hate it when it does that). Bleeding the clutch didn't 
help. It also goes into reverse hard. Could it be a problem with the 
linkage? I would hate to think the transmission is going out. It only has 
182,000 miles on it!
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
