e-28 stalled/dead

my '86 535 just completely lost all power and died the other day.  i can now 
only get it to run for maybe 10 seconds max, and then it's like someone is 
just turning off the ignition switch.  there is also a heavy "burned fuel"/ 
rich fuel in the air when it does run for those few seconds.  i have tried 
rob L's fix regarding the underside of the fuse box, but all looks fine and 
not corroded in there....anyone have another suggestion??
