Excellent point. Our E30 325i SE is basically top of the line - three things
it doesn't have: leather, climate air (it has normal air), and auto. But it
has a very nice cloth interior. Varying shades of blue which go really well
with the blue windows, mirrors and exterior.
Cloth is my favourite seat covering. It doesn't stick to your legs (you
know... when you drive nekkid), easy to clean and still breathes. Also
leather doesn't tend to last real long down here (I live in the "Hole in the
Ozone Layer").
Leather was one thing we tried to avoid when buying.
