To learn how all the trinkets work go to the dealer and buy a 'users
booklet' for the car. It should be under $20 but it does not have much. To
learn how to maintain/fix things, go with Bentley manual (www.rb.com).
To cycle OBC (on board computer) between metric/US/UK go into AVG
MPG mode and use a pen to press the button in a hole on the lower right
corner of the OBC. That buttons is basically a Reset button that you will
use to set/change values/modes.
The view the clock press on 'time'. If the display is all dashes,
play with the above mentioned button and the 0-1000 buttons on the bottom of
OBC to set the time/date.
Skip playing with 'CODE' until you get the BMW booklet ;-)

Look at Bentley web site to find the ISBN for the right manual, then
shop around for the best price. It can be found for around $30.

Why not fix it?
The light is on indicating that the anti-lock brakes are not happy.
This is frequently caused by dirt filling the teeth used by ABS to read
wheel rotation speed. To remedy, clean the teeth. Take the wheel off and
trace the wire coming to around the wheel bearing area. See where it leads
and you will find the ABS teeth.
You will also find additional wire on left front and right rear
wheels. Those are brake pad wear sensors. Ignore those until the 'brake
wear' (red) light comes on to the left from the (orange) ABS light. Then
replace the pads with the sensors ($5).

It goes off as you touch the brake pedal for the first time. This is normal.
Bavarians want to check that the brake light work before you drive off.
