There's a fix for this:

 1) Go to dealer's part dept.
 2) Show counter person your key, ask for replacement bulb
 3) Parts person will disappear momentarily, and reappear with a bulb
 4) Prepare to faint when you learn what the price is
 5) Refuse to pay so much for a tiny bulb, and leave
 6) Go to Radio Shack, find a bulb that looks like the correct
      replacement, and purchase it.
 7) Find out that you paid for a bulb that's just a little too big to
      fit in the key.  Get pissed off!
 8) Go back to dealer's parts dept.
 9) Buy the bulb
10) Install it and have light again.
11) What?  No light?  Uh oh, time to find a replacement battery.....
12) Start at step one, substituting 'battery' for 'bulb'
