Hello all,
Speaking of late Roundels, I just received my August issue.
Thanks to all the folks at the APO (Army Post Office) for the timely
delivery.
On a different note, what is the record for least miles on a
factory clutch? My 98 328iC just had the clutch replaced under warranty at
3400.
Seems that it was a bit "blue". Actually I detected a bit(alot) of slip so I
decided to "troubleshoot" the problem. Investigating the slip (through
launches
and hard accelerations) I saw some pathetic 0-60 times, actually the car
felt
more like an automatic. Fortunately the service manager concurred with the
problem and had the clutch promptly replaced. The amazing thing is I
dropped the
car Wednesday at about 1pm for the work to be done on Thursday. I was
called at 4pm the same day saying the car was ready. I must say the
German BMW
dealers don't screw around when the factory is paying the tab. Nor do they
mess around with inventory. New cars in the show room yesterday; 1 M
coupe, 1 Z3
2.8 coupe, 1 Z-3 with a factory installed AC Schnitzer package(short
shifter, carbon interior, 18" wheels), 3 E36 convertibles, Several hardtop
3's, 5's, and 7's and one red zero mile Z1.
Another tangent, if you are familiar with Bimmer magazine, the
recent yellow V-8 E36 on the cover, the tuner H&H is located just around
the corner
from my servicing dealer. Not a bad place to kill time.
