[alfa] '74 exhaust manifold to '86 cat?

Hi,

Has anyone out there done the '71-'74 exhaust manifold mod on an '86-'89
Spider and mated it to the stock cat?  I live in a non emissions testing
state but would prefer to keep the system greener than going with the
full '74 system.
