[alfa] Brevetti (was: hose clamps)

Biba asks "Anyone have a source for new Brevetti hose clamps?" and adds "The
Brevetti name shows up in Google, but was no help."

Shows up in the dictionary, too. Means "patented"

Kid sis used to work for a newsmagazine which scrupulously credited the photos
it used to the sources stamped on the back - including, once, "Reproduction
Interdit" - ('Copying prohibited').

As for the hoseclamps, a quick dip into the "raffreddamento" (cooling) page of
the Catalogo Rapido produced a clear picture of the clamp Biba described with
a key number #62; 62 carries the denominazione of "Fascetta stringitubo"
(fascetta: corset, band, strip; stringere, to press, tie, squeeze; tubo, tube
- a band to squeeze the tube) in four diameters- 30-32.5mm, part #2300.53217;
39-41.5 mm, #2300.53220; 42-44.5mm #2300.53221; 45-47.5mm, 2300.53222. Other
fascetti of the same type are illustrated on other pages individually without
sizes given, but digging and comparison with known applications should yield a
comprehensive list. From there a hop to one of the European sources of Alfa
parts just might produce a patented hose clamp, if luck holds.

It is true that one can buy hose clamps - probably even patented ones - in
many places, but for those who have a taste for that sort of thing a pile of
parts books and a bilingual dictionary can offer many small delights.

Enjoy your forbidden fruit- or your quite sufficient ordinary one. Takes all
kinds-
