[alfa] Alfa People - Luca, Steve

Hi All

I have just returned after quite a while away visiting Europe, and a brief
stopover in LA. Part of the trip was Monza and many thanks to all on this list
who gave helpful advice. The F1 race event was beyond my wildest expectations
and its hard to convey the crowd-reaction and noise to those who have not been
there, but in my experience it is just about unheard of to have the crowd
noise drown out cars screaming their heads off at a zillion rpm. of course
there were all the special characters who added to the fun like the group of
Russians who were always drinking beer from 8 am to dark and never appeared
drunk; the Dutch group who insisted I sit with them rather than by myself, and
of course, the Italians. Fantastic!

However, this is not what the purpose of this post is but rather to say what a
special group the AD comprises. I met up with Luca in Bassano del Grappa and
had a memorable evening at a restaurant on Monte Grappa. It also turned out
that the restaurant owner had been to New Zealand to watch a Superbike race so
we exchanged notes and he prepared some special things and plied me with
gifts. That was near the beginning of my travels. Near the end my stopover was
in LA and Steve Luftman came by, picked me up and we cruised around, tried
some boutique beer and Mexican food, to make that evening equally memorable.

Luca and Steve - sincere thanks and may the spirit of real Alfa Digest
camaraderie survive forever!

Ciao Tutti
