When last in Singapore I noticed that electrical "on demand" water heaters
were available, and they were a plug-in variety not requiring hard wiring.
Obviously Singapore has different electrical regulations than here in
Australia, and of course a different voltage power grid.

Over here on-demand or instantaneous gas systems are readily available.  You
could also try an RV equipment supplier.
