When is one smog proof in CA?

Yeah, I know this comes up frequently, and I'm generally the one who
starts it.

Since no one at the DMV seemed to know, I assume there is a reason they
keep the employees in the dark regarding the subject?

I'm old. Don't complicate things. I just received my revised title for
my now (official) 1975 Alfa Romeo Alfetta GT. FWIW, my registration
renewal month is October. Yes, I'm currently legal (current tags) for a
change.

Is this car exempt from any more smog tests?

If not, when will it be?

And a Bravo! to Ian Lomax for beginning work on his '75 Alfetta GT
rather than chopping it up and putting in a dumpster - like more than a
few of you are guilty of. It is my understanding Santa loves Alfas and
especially Alfetta GT's. It's coal in the stocking for anyone guilty of
purposely destroying any Alfa and doggy doo-doo for those destroying
restorable Alfetta GT's. Just thought I'd mention it so you won't be
surprised when you reach into your stocking Christmas morning.
