re: Need ignition part #s for 1974 Spider

Gregory,

Before buying all these replacement items, you should discover why you
aren't getting any spark. Have you checked the 12v supply to the coil?
Did you check the points gap? Pull the coil wire from the distributor
cap and see if you get a spark. Did you check the timing?

I'm not sure if you car has a resistor in the starting circuit, but if
it does, it is bypassed when starting. If they go bad, the car starts
but will not run after releasing the key from the start position.

My '73 GTV has the RML 4101 system in it and it seems to run really
well. I really can't compare it to the stock Marelli system since I
never ran it all that long on it. But it starts up easily (after the
engine rebuild, a rebuilt SPICA pump, and SPICA pump adjustments) and
runs well. Never missed a beat at VIR two weeks ago (a great event put
on by the Mid Atlantic folks - thanks again, Dana) where I flogged as
best as I could (110 mph on the straightaway). And RML is more than
willing to help you out to get you Alfa running with their system installed.
