On my 82 spider there were two hoses.  They are part of the fuel vapor
recovery system.  The hoses are connected to the charcoal canister
behind the access panel in the front fender. Then they pass through this
panel and connect to the intake manifold.  If there are cracks you might
have a slight vacuum leak.
