Milano ABS

     My advice is run don't walk away. First off the car sounds like a 
     Platinum and not a Gold (check the color of the 4 leaf color on the 
     trunk trim, it should be platinum in color). Secondly it sounds like 
     the ABS pump is dead. Do both the brake and ABS warning lights stay on 
     in the Alfa Control Panel (that funny looking panel in the top center 
     of the dash with all of the warning lights) when you start the car ?
     Turn on the ignition and pump the brake pedal 5 tmes, you should hear 
     the pump come on. If not, likely dead. This is a common ailment of the 
     ATE ABS system used in these cars and very expensive to replace.
