Looking for shop manual for 74 spider

Greg, while not really answering your question regarding a good shop
manual for your '74 Spider, would suggest you find a set of factory
parts books for your car. Especially if you plan on keeping it for a
long time.

Admittedly I don't have one for my own Alfetta GT, but did find a set of
2000 Spider Veloce parts books on eBay a few years ago. The main book
doesn't give a specific date, but some pages have 1972 on them. The US
version book says for 1975 Model Year on inside cover. However it also
has pages with the 1972 date.

Trust me, I often ask questions regarding dismantling / rebuilding /
installing various parts on cars, but most generally look at a parts
book before I check a shop manual. I truly love those detailed drawings.
Often it becomes self-evident as to how to rebuild an engine, heater, or
(?).

Yes, of course, one needs precise measurements, torque readings, and
wiring diagrams (although most shop manuals generally fall down in this
area).

Just something to consider.

When perusing an early Alfa parts book and you're dreading doing a
particular job, think of the poor artists who had to draw every
fastener, every casting, every, etc. to scale and in its precise
position.

My small collection of Alfa parts books and shop manuals no doubt pales
by comparison to John Hertzman's. Ask John what he thinks of Fiat's
'reorganizing / renumbering' Alfa's parts number system.

Ahhh, but yet again I digress.
