CV joints

I'm suspecting my driver's CV is bad (makes distinct pounding on mildly
vigorous turn - almost seems one per wheel rev) -- inner?  outer?  both?
Who does rebuild exchange?  (And for that matter, on an auto, are rt and
lt interchangable?)
