I have an 83 spider with the 140 MPH speedo. My mechanic put it in when
the original failed. I am fairly certain it was just a drop-in
replacement. I am certain there were no transmission changes
involved. The bill would have reflected that. I am not sure the year when
the 85 MPH speedometer became standard. I thought it was 83, but
apparently not. Someone on the list will know. You just need one from the
right year. If you email me, I will give you my mechanic's name and phone
number. He might have one or know where to get one.
