164 LS Stereo Issue

My factory radio/amplifier has taken to cutting out with increasing
frequency.  There does not seem to be any pattern here, it will just cut out
for a few seconds or more; sometime turning it on and off gets it back.  My
guess is that it is the amplifier (a separate unit under the seat on the LS)
since when it does cut out I can very faintly still hear the sound.  Anyone
have a line on a replacement factory amp, new or used?
