Interesting that you should mention the fan switch. I guess I was lucky in
that when my fan switch failed, the fan was on nearly all the time. It was
very disconcerting because, as you mentioned. the fan is very loud and you
can't miss it. You also can't help thinking something terrible is about to
happen to your AT. In my case, nothing bad happened and I learned a lot
about the AT fluid cooling system.

I checked out the transmission fan and realized that,
A. it wasn't coming on, and
B. The fan is so loud that I don't think it ever came on. I ordered a new

This could like many of the sensors on our cars be a weak point and it
could
be heat unknowingly
that is prematurely wrecking our transmissions. So all you 164 A/T owners
check those fan switches.
