Fuel gauge sender

Hi all,
Finally got hold of a "new" fuel gauge sender for my 71 Spider and 
plan to install it this weekend. Can someone give me an overview of 
the process: can't be difficult can it??!! Also, is there a gasket 
between the sender and the tank? Does this automatically need 
replacing? Where would I get one?
