Nuerburgring

Hey guys,

Was wondering if anyone on the list has driven at the Nuerburgring
Nordschleife in recent years under their 'open to the public' policy?
I will be in Germany the week of October 10- 17, and was considering
renting a car and taking it out during the middle of that week.
At the risk of being utterly offensive, I'm toying w/ the idea of
getting a new(er) C2 or something of the sort for this undertaking.

(I also just read some posts from a BMW list archive that had some
horror stories to recount about congestion/accidents/blood&guts, etc.)
Can anyone comment on any of this?
