i've got both, and then some.
the roll bar, by itself, won't make any difference in chassis stiffness.
for that, you need a fore/aft brace. when i added a fore/aft brace to my
spider it made more of a difference than the chassis stiffener did.
the only problem with the 'cage' approach is that you start to seriously
impede on passenger comfort.
for a street car i'd go with the chassis stiffener, for a track car i'd go
with the cage, or a roll bar with a fore/aft brace. mine is removable so i
can convert my spider into a comfortable, cushy street car as needed ;)
as an aside, switching my street bar to the race height bar and adding the
fore/aft brace makes it look more like a real racer, to the point where i
get lots of folks honking and waving. so i guess i'd modify my street car
recommendation to cover your marital status..
