chassis stiffener vs. roll bars

Okay, now I'm intrigued.  

Some people are advocates of the chassis stiffeners and others roll bars.
But, does anyone have experience with both (i.e. driven both and can give
more insight).  

Which "in their honest opinion" is more effective.

Also, there are two types of roll-bars ... Certified and Street.

Inquiring minds want to know!?!?
