On sythetic oil(s)

Got a question, raised by a current threadlet. When running sythetic
oil, I believe it was Doug S, mentioned that he ran it about 10K between
changes. Not a flame, but a question as to the pollution of the oil
after that long a time in the motor. Would it make any sense to change
the filter mid-way, and top up the crankcase with the appropriate amount
of juice of synthetic dino's?

I did this with a car I had many moons ago. The car went well, always,
but I sold the car before any long-term tests could be done.
Admittedly, I put on less than 8K per year, but I figured an annual
synthetic oil change with a 6-month filter change and topping was good
enough.

Comments on that as a practive, if using synthetic lube? - thanx
