definition of "Alfista"
Before you think I am trying to argue whether Alfista should be
male/female or have an i, e, or a on the end, we have had enough of
that thread!
I am talking about the true meaning of Alfista. This past weekend, I
picked up a few parts from Godfrey DiGiorgi (He of "Frankenspider"
fame) to put on my spider as replacement for a non-functioning
handbrake, and a missing grille piece. Since Godfrey has reduced three
spiders of various vintage to one running machine, he has parts left
over. And, since he has no place to keep them, he cannot store them
much longer. So, when I picked the parts up from him, and whipped out
my wallet to compensate him for his efforts, he refused. He was happy
to see that another spider is made whole again, and that the parts are
not going to be melted down for another Japanese econobox. He said "as
long as we can reuse parts to keep an Alfa running, I'm happy." (I may
have paraphrased his remarks somewhat, but it is in context.)
So, Godfrey, once again, I say "mille grazie" from me and my spider.
You are a true Alfista.
Godfrey mentioned he has some alloy wheels on his rolling wrecks that
he would be happy to exchange for some steel wheels that fit. Any
takers? San Francisco bay area, if interested.
Len, with an 82 spider that both stays parked better, and looks better
doing it.
