Oil pressure gauge

This weekend I replaced the oil pressure sensor on my 91 Spider.  The Oil
pressure gauge has never registered anything in the time I have owned this
car- Since Jan 99.  After replacing the sensor, I started the car and let it
reach normal operating temp.  My understanding is that during Idle, Spiders
do not register oil pressure.  However, after the car was warmed up, I
revved the engine and still nothing.  I couldn't drive the car because I'm
currently doing other repairs.  What else should I check?  The single wire
connection looked to be in good shape.  The oil light never comes on other
than start up, so I think I'm ok there.  Any suggestions?  Am I missing
something?
