Hello everyone.
For a few months now, my 1985 GTV6 has been sometimes losing oil. I've had
to add a quart or two every several hundred miles, although this hasn't
been consistent. For the past few hundred miles the level hasn't changed.
I have seen no evidence of leaks and no visible smoke in the exhaust to
indicate burning oil.
My shop tells me that the valve guides are a likely cause of this problem.
They quoted me $1200-$1500 to have them worked on. Does this sound right?
Also, if I do end up having the job done, is there anything else I should
have done while the heads are off? Apparently they'll be removed and sent
to a machine shop for the valve guide work...
Thanks!
