   IMHO, offer them no more than $5000, and walk away if the owner wants
more.  164s are not that hard to find, and there is no reason to take a
chance on one without excellent history, unless it is dirt cheap.

   Last time I looked, a few Digest 164 owners were selling cars in much,
much better condition for similar money.  You should buy the best example
you can afford, it will save you money in the long run.

   For $5K, or maybe $5500, it might be worth it.
