window glass question

My passengers side window is scratched from years of rubbing against
the outer rubber clip.  Can this this be polished or do I need to
invest in a new piece of glass?
My Stag's front windshield is clear, but the others, doors and quarter
light vents, are tinted.  Is this standard on US models or has the
windshield shield been changed?
