Hi Apart from tickover too high (should be 800 in N) it could be play in Propshaft Universal joints, or slack in the crown wheel and pinion in the rear axle. It may also be a fault in the transmission downshift cable adjustment. They can all be easily checked. A muted thump on selection of D or R is OK. Peter H
