Ben,

Yes but jack at the back of the diff rather than on the nose extension
or the subframe arms.

Sounds like as the engine is cold, the choke is out which makes it idle
faster. This will make the auto box lurch when you select D or R. Check
that your `fast idle' speed is not too high - I think it is stated in
the ROM and adjustable at the carbs.

Others on the list with auto boxes should be able to confirm but it
sounds normal to me.
