 This fitting should be connected to the vacuum advance/retard on the 
distributor. The pipe from the fitting in question goes to the pipe 
on the end of the vacuum advance/retard unit. The fitting on the 
underside of the left hand side carb ( virtually impossible to get at 
without taking the carb off) goes to the pipe on the side of the 
vacuum advance/retard unit.
