Gents,
I'm looking into new vehicles and I'm interested in getting something that is
able to pull the scout on a suitably sized braked trailer.
I'm curious what you suggest the laden weight of a trailer (likely dual axle
with surge brakes or electric - not sure necessarily which would be the most
appropriate braking), with the soft-topped scout on it would be. I'm thinking
around 6k, but any guesses, knowledge are welcomed.
I have a "race Scout".. when ready-to-race with driver, it weighs a "mere" 4000lbs, or roughly 3800lbs w/o driver.

This Scout has just the outer skins of the front clip, no top, no doors, no windshield, no interior, fiberglass buckets, a full cage.. 31" tires..

3800lbs.

I have a tandem axle 16' car trailer, with dual 3500lbs axles (7k).

I do have a small toolbox on the front with an extra chain or two, and a small tire-rack on the front of the trailer, usually with 2 trailer tires and 1 or 2 tires for my Travelette.

I took my truck across the scales when headed to race a year or two ago.

I had 5,500lbs on the two trailer axles combined.

I don't recall what I calculated my tongue weight to be, but it would've been 500+ or so, putting my laden trailer with Scout around 6,000lbs.

How much heavier is YOUR Scout? Add in the doors, windshield, inner fenders, heater, dash, backseat, spare tire, spare parts, tools, and all of the other assorted junk typically found in the average Scout II.

I do tow my trail Scout on the same trailer, but I've never weighed either the trailer w/ trail Scout, or just the trail Scout.
