[ihc] how close is too close

All,

In my Scout II, I changed my fan setup from a flex fan to a clutch fan.
Initially I went to NAPA and got the Imperial equivalent of the Hayden 2707,
but when I bolted it up without the radiator, it didnt look like it was
anywhere close to fitting...I didnt even put the radiator in because I was so
sure. I then got a Hayden 2505, which fit, but the flange that attaches to
the water pump hub doesnt give me great contact with the bolts that are
holding the clutch fan on the hub.

Now that I have the 2505 in, I measured the between the clutch and the
radiator and came up with .75 inches. Looking at the Hayden clutch fan specs,
the 2707 is .61 inches longer than the 2505, so in theory it would fit.
However, I dont know how much forward movement to expect from the engine.
I've got brand new poly motor mounts on the 345, body mounts and a new rubber
tranny mount on the t-19.

Question...how much space should I have between the clutch and the radiator?

Is there another clutch fan out there that has the right diameter flange, but
is shorter in overall length?

Thanks.

Matt
