Sounds like this may be the solution.  Well, I'll at least attempt this.  I've got a feeling that I'm going to have some trouble removing the seat, since it's a bench seat.  Maybe I can get the door panel off with the bench in place, but if not I'm always up for a good challenge.

Sounds like the door striker bar slid inward when you
slammed it.  

I'd take out the driver's seat and the inner door
panel and then you can probably get some kind of tool
in there to open the latch.
