[ihc] Ford front ends?

Binders,
It seems to me that a coil sprung front end with locating arms and a
track rod makes perfect sense, and when lifted to some degree, the track
rod shifts the front end side to side a bit with any suspension
compression, (small angles, etc.)

So, if you make a leaf spring front end on a Ford truck, as I've seen all
too often, why keep the track rod?
If this is the design, then isn't it the case that any suspension
compression is trying to push the leaf packs to one side?

Seems like a waste of energy and a design for a really harsh ride?
