Check for an exhaust leak between the header and head.

Use tubing as a stethoscope to probe the under side of the exhaust port.

The metal is probably babbit (I didn't view the photos) from the cam
bearing(s), it's common and your engine will probably continue to run for
years as long as you don't run it low on oil.
