[ihc] Towing Tips reminders needed!

Okay, I am taking off this weekend to go about 600-700 miles and pick up a
non-runner Scout. I will be towing it home on one of those tow dollies that
lifts two wheels off the ground and leaves two on the ground. I am looking
for the general advice/knowledge of this list as far as which way is best to
tow it this long of a distance.

Should I put the rear tires on the dolly and tow backwards, or put the fronts
on and tow it forwards? Also, in either application, was the conclusion
reached that the driveshafts SHOULD or SHOULD NOT be removed?

As far as the vitals, it is a Scout 800 ('68, I think) body, but is planted on
a '77 frame with a diesel and, I think, most of the driveline from the diesel.
It has an auto tranny, I believe he said Dana 30 axles (both?) and I think
that is all that should matter for this question.

Anyway, I am getting ready to check the BinderBulletin FAQ, but thought that
if there is any pertinent advice to this particular set-up, I would see in
case something is different because it is a hybrid!

Thanks!

Michael
