Re: Allan on 392s

Joel,

I'll make one minor correction, you only have to worry if you have a 74/75 fullsize truck, these need the special side mount bosses. A Scout II can accept any SV motor, made from 1958 through the end in 1984, as proof I will offer the 345 that I put in a 76 Traveler that came out of a 63 loadstar.

Allan, et al,
Don't forget that some 392s (maybe 345s too) have different mounting
bosses on the outside that may not allow it to be mounted in a Scout II,
Travelall, or Pickup. I had a 392 core that I got from Joel Furtek for my
Yellow Travelall, but the mounting bosses on the side were not drilled for
the 74/75 PU/TA and Scout type motor mounts. Comer was kind enough to swap
me blocks for one that he had that he didn't need the drilled bosses. Make
sure you don't get a block cleaned and bored before realizing this. The
mounts that bolt to the side of the engine may or may not be pre-drilled in
your block.

fyi,
